For the fifth time, we are awarding the QUEERTACTICS short film prize, the GOLDENE MEDUSA in the categories
1/ most challenging gender representation
2/ queerest aesthetics, and
3/ best LGBTIQ+ document.

This year, for the first time, the prize is presented in cooperation with WIENWOCHE. Accordingly, the open call was held under the theme ACTIVISM REVISITED, in dialogue with WIENWOCHE’s 2026/27 open call, “Age of Dissent”. Starting from questions of dissent, resistance and social change, queer-feminist filmmakers were invited to explore past, present and future forms of activism through film.

The result is an extraordinarily diverse and simply stunning shortlist. In the presence of the filmmakers, we will screen all six shortlisted works. Only afterwards will our highly esteemed jury—Moira Hille, Tonica Hunter and Mzamo Nondlwana—announce the winners. Suspense guaranteed!
