Maia, Yenifer, and Luciana begin a new chapter as caregivers in a nursing home, changing their previous routines for uniforms, long shifts, and the daily realities of caring for ageing bodies and deteriorating minds. As three trans women navigating a society that often misgenders and excludes them, they come across the complexities of caring for others while learning to find their place in an unfamiliar environment. Slowly, through patience, humour, and everyday gestures and rutines, they begin to earn the residents’ trust. Having previously relied on sex work to make a living, the three women discover unexpected points of connection with the people in their care, finding common ground across generations often perceived as worlds apart. Cuidadoras is a tender and necessary portrait of care, recognition, and the surprising intimacies that emerge when we allow ourselves to see one another beyond our differences.
